THE Kargo Magalies Adventure 2011

Welcome to the 2011 chapter of The Kargo Magalies Adventure. The word is out and yes, Kargo National is now the official sponsor of the 2011 event and beyond. We are extremely excited about this and the result is that 2011 will be the best Magalies Adventure ever.

A Few New Initiatives
By way of a reminder, see below as to some of the new initiatives for this year’s event.

Solo Rider Category
We are pleased to announce a new Solo Rider Category, and this will be for riders who prefer to ride without a partner – all the bells and whistles will be included and the cost for the 3 days riding, plus the tented accommodation, the legendary feast from Friday to Sunday, the magnificent entertainment and the stunning goodie bags are all included. The cost per rider here is R 2 500. (Please note that this is the only option – it does not change if you choose to stay and eat elsewhere)

Old Bullet Category: for the 50+
We have had a number of requests from some of our regular riders and just for you; we will be introducing, at your request, “The Old Bullet” Category. This is for men, women – although we will classify you as the “Graceful Ladies”, and mixed categories. All riders must be at least 50 years or older on 12 August 2011 to compete in this category.
There will be no prize money in this category, but there will be a trophy for each winner and a stunning hamper from Kargo National.

Kiddies Ride
We have had this for a number of years, but for the first time, this will be free, gratis, mahala. Included in the kiddies ride will be a goodie bag, race medal, a light lunch as well as a kiddies playground, a clown and child minders for the day. Plus, there will be a lucky draw for all the kiddies who enter to stand a chance to win a Trek Bike valued at R 3000.

The Kargo Magalies Adventure: What is this about?

If you haven’t heard, this is the largest and most prestigious multi stage race in Gauteng. The first running took place in 2008, and the event has grown from strength to strength. It is a team event, and each team will consist of two riders.

The riding is simply the best on offer. Oodles of single track, some really tough, technical and challenging sections, but without a doubt, some of the best riding you will ever do in Gauteng. Ask anyone who has done it before. It is tough, rough but simply out of this world.

The catering is simply stunning, the entertainment is unique, with live acts, comedians, and let’s not forget about the bike wash on Saturday – oh and we will all watch the Bokke take on the Aussies on Saturday.

3 days of unbelievable riding and 3 days of fun. Simply the best mountain biking event on offer.

So if you are keen, read on.

The Kiddies Kargo Magalies: If you are planning on having your family join you, bring your kiddies along for the fun. We will host the Kiddies Kargo Magalies which is an assisted ride with a bit of fun on the way.
It includes some fun single track, and some entertainment, plus there is also a kiddies playground at the finish.

This will be an assisted ride of 3km with watering points on the route. It's a whole bunch of fun, and last year the youngest participant was just under 3 years of age.

Entries are limited to 100, and thanks to Kargo National, the cost of the kiddies ride is now free.
