Race Overview & Information
The event will be a three stage event, and will take place over the weekend of the 12th, 13th and 14th of August 2011.
Riders will register on Friday the 13th from lunch time, and then have the opportunity to check into their tented accommodation.
Please note that the images you see are of the 2010 event. There are a few changes in the pipeline, only good ones of course, and these will only be released closer to the time. Please note that we travel through over 50 privately owned farms. We have developed a really good relationship with the landowners, and do not want to tarnish this. PLEASE DO NOT RIDE THROUGH THEIR LAND AS PART OF YOUR TRAINING PROGRAMME.
STAGE 1
Riders briefing will commence at 4pm, and at 5.30pm, Stage 1 will commence which will be a 25km night stage. Riders will be expected to ride with lights.
Dinner will then be served in our central marquee.

STAGE 2
Stage 2 will commence on the Saturday morning at 7am, and will be a route of +-75km. Here there will be a good mix of dirt road, jeep track and single track, and some technical ascents and descents. Please note that this is a tough stage, and we do advise you to be reasonably fit.
After the stage, you will have the chance to shower, freshen up, and enjoy an evening of entertainment, good food, and good company. This will be the highlight of the off-course events, and we will have a few lucky draws, and generally have some good fun. Dinner will consist of lamb and beef on the spit, and flame grilled chicken.

Once you have finished Stage 3, you will have the chance to freshen up, and we will then have the final Prize Giving followed by live entertainment, and of course our legendary Sunday braai.

Profile

**All routes and profiles above are from 2010 and changes will be made to them in certain areas.**
The Magalies Mini Adventure
Starting at 8.30am, the Mini Magalies will see riders following the Stage 3 riders. You will do the same route, and finish at the same venue. This event is designed to accommodate those who are keen on an introduction to stage racing and to the fantastic atmosphere of The Kargo Magalies Adventure. This is a Pre-Entry event, and entries will open on 1 March. Entries will close on 30 June, or if we reach a field of 500 participants. We will not take entries on the day. Cost will be R350 per rider, and this will include a braai after the ride, plus a race T Shirt.
The Kargo Magalies Kiddies Adventure
Best we don't forget the kiddies. After an absolutely stunning Kiddies Adventure in 2010, this has become a wonderful experience. Kiddies are treated to river crossings, a clown en route, two water tables and all of this in 3km. The youngest participant in 2009 was just 2 & ½ years old - ably assisted by her aunt, and the oldest was 12. There is unfortunately an age limit of 12 years. Cost is R50 including a fabulous Kiddies Own Goodie Bag. This is a Pre-Entry event, and entries will open on 1 March. Entries will close on 30 June, or when a full field of 50 kiddies is reached. Unfortunately we will not take entries on the day.
The ride will commence at 9am.
There will also be a Kiddies Playground at the venue.
After the three events, your families and friends will be able to purchase braai tickets after the formalities and relax. This must be pre-ordered.
Of course, after all the excitement, you will also have the opportunity to enjoy your favourite liquid refreshment in the marquee/ beer tent.
Entries
Entries open on 1 February 2011 for the 2010 participants. Entries for new participants will open on 1 March 2011, and will close when a full field of 200 teams is reached.
Costs
2010 Participants:
Entries are official once we have received full payment of R4450 (inc. Vat) on or before 28 February 2011. This is the same rate as the 2010 event. If you have not paid by the 28th of February or made special arrangements with the race office, you will have to unfortunately pay the 2011 rate.
2011 Participants:
Entries are official once we have received full payment of R4800 (inc. Vat) on or before 30 June 2011.
The Rules and Regulations
The rules and regulations pertaining to The Kargo Magalies Adventure 2011 may change slightly in the weeks leading up to the race. The final version will be communicated at the race briefing on 12 August 2011.
Mountain Bike racing is by nature self-reliant and often held in remote areas. All Kargo Magalies Adventure competitors must participate with an understanding and acceptance of this ethos.
